We are so back

Welcome back all Caden Lu fans!

I have secured the domain for yet another year, and now can make posts again.

The following is a current dump of this day, thoughts are informal.

As of today, I am testing out Omarchy on my old laptop, finding window tiling to be awesome, awaiting the Windows in Linux on 3.1 release. Maybe I will run a few bots for games when that releases.

Currently experimenting with using climbing chalk for alternative purposes. One such example is using chalk for keeping sweaty palms at bay in gaming. Call it my “gaming chalk”.

Recently hit master in LoL, still feels like many mistakes are being made, just need to stop taking 0 reward trades, putting down fake vision, respecting enemy, and I can expect to climb to around ~200LP. We will see how much harder it gets at that point. Must remember process > all, focus on self, playing a good game will make it probable to win.

Current Champ Pool:

  • Bot: Ashe (Blind), Kai’sa (need AP / has CC supp)
  • Sup: Karma (Blind), Lulu (w hypercarry), Braum (need melee & good synergy), Sona (OP COUNTERPICK) IMO enchanters still do not get punished other than that one time I went against challenger Nautilus who got too much value on roams which I did not match, and game snowballed too hard.

Geoguessr is quite fun with friends, I got a monthly account just to try out the platform, not a fan of their ranked system for lower ranks (this is the perspective of someone who is Silver III, went 3-0 placements). For someone who studied a little bit before getting a subscription by spamming public challenges, I have a huge advantage over those starting out. Currently covering “Learnable Meta: Beginner”, just finished bollards and cars (needs review).

I also tried to play osu! again, but my tapping hand could not find a proper technique. I tried different wrist angles, pivot fingers, implementing forearm rotation, swapping between ring-index and ring-middle for periods of time, but could not find a comfortable position for my hand. I might be physically capped around 350 bpm jumps.

Also going through the textbook “Reinforcement Learning: An Introduction”, always loved RL as a concept, from AlphaStar (SC2) to Leela Chess, now that I have free time.

Some projects I would like to implement with RL: TFT Naive Bot, which forces certain comps/items given the unit pool and their AVP, Uma training bot (more optimal than generic 0.5 point heuristics).

Current stats: 170-180 lbs throughout the week (yes the range is quite large), 260 bench, 370 squat, still don’t deadlift. Unemployed…

If I intend to hit 400+ squats by end of year, it is mandatory for me to start eating more, I have been slow gaining strength sitting at 170 lbs for too long…

Cardio, posterior chain are my weak points. Quite interested in learning weightlifting (looks cool) and I had a lot of fun throwing around weights. Safety is number 1 priority (can’t lift if injured), but otherwise having fun is number 2. I will probably lift until I die.

Physical structure, quite lean now, sometimes a little too low fat for my liking. Need to build some size on general posterior chain through vertical pulling exercises.

DONT DIE!!! Very fun to mind control my family and friends into taking creatine, that supplement is OP for years now. Health trends come and go, but a real health trend should never leave your life. I NEED to get my family in the local community gym as well. The investment of a few minutes of gymming is too much ROI.

Current AI beliefs:

  • AI is the future, no stopping it now, you can skill gap people many orders of magnitude higher than before.
  • Expectation of job displacement, I believe this is not a bad outcome if productivity is increased as a result of removing human inefficiencies.
  • Hardware still has a long way to go, battery tech seems to be the bottleneck in building reasonable sized, lightweight wearables.
  • I can see lightweight local models improving a lot. Add some tool calling (NOT MANAGED BY USER), and it will likely to be mass adopted by populace for the convenience.
  • UBI (Universal Basic Income) is no solution (I might elaborate more in another post).

I am also a believer in 0 cash, 100% investments. I am currently ALL IN (97.5% of my monies) on ETFs, with a very little bit of cash. The storm is gathering… WE SCALE!!!. On the other hand, being this passive in such a bull market is just a losing play, even if it is positive EV.

To all friends who do not invest, it is as simple as choosing an investment platform with no fees (If you are noob, platforms with fees will not benefit you), and buying an ETF of some major index. This is the Garen of investing strats, good ROI, very low risk (on 30+ year timeline), low to no maintenance other than DCA occasionally.

Took the small loss of $800 on a Blackberry investment for fun, just a lesson I paid for. The berries ripened, I let it decompose for too long…

These are my thoughts. Read them if you wish.
